Within a couple years of the CDs release, thousands of copies went all around the world, and inspired listeners to trust God in difficult situations. Donations given for these were enough to construct a community playground and to start and maintain a ministry for children in war-torn Sierra Leone, Africa.
In this song I am calling out to God, questioning whether prayers for my daughter had fallen on deaf ears. It portrays very raw emotions but ultimately cedes final control to the Lord. After having written the lyrics but no music, I found myself humming these words to an instrumental piece that my good friend Gary Young had written. With his permission, we merged his music and my lyrics and the song was born.
This song was co-written by my wife Karen and me. Having experienced God’s comfort, hope and purpose in the aftermath of our tragedy, we wanted others who had suffered heartbreak to be encouraged as well. This benediction-type song is based on Isaiah 42: 16, and acknowledges loss but reminds us all that God loves us and offers a hope and a future.
